5 Best Ways to Hammock

Hammocking is a lifestyle. And if you travel Free & Easy style, then you probably have one stashed in your backpack at all times, ready to be strung up wherever convenient for your chilling pleasure. You probably also have one in your backyard, living room, bedroom, and anywhere else where the need to laze could hit you. You could say that through our years of traveling we’ve perfected the art of hammocking, and so today, on International Hammock Day, we will be sharing with you the five ways we like to hammock best.

1) HAMMOCK CITIES

There’s nothing like a travel day to get the creative hammocking going. Making (and chilling in) a whole hammock city on the top deck of a boat is possibly the best way to travel when island hopping.

2) HAMMOCK BY THE OCEAN

With the salty wind ruffling your hair and the sun kissing your face, hang up near the ocean and you’ll truly feel like you’ve made it to paradise. Who needs cake when you have a hammock?

3) HAMMOCK STACK

Probably the most fun to hang out in, the hammock stack is uber popular on Free & Easy trips. From a basic two person stack on your guestroom balcony, to multi-layered party stacks, this is one hammock style you NEED to try with your friends.

4) KHAO SOK TREE HAMMOCK

This is probably one of the most unique places to hammock you will ever come across. We are lucky enough to stay in floating bungalows in the middle of a HUGE lake, tucked deep into Khao Sok National Park on our 20 and 40-day Thailand trips. A two minute swim from your room door you will find these awesome, gnarly dead trees…and they happen to be the perfect place to string up for a peaceful nap overlooking the lake. Photos simply can’t do it justice.

5) HAMMOCK ‘TUDE

At the end of the day, hammocking is all about having a great attitude. If you’re not loving it then you shouldn’t be doing it! String up, get comfy, and look around you. Smile! Life is good and the world is a magical place.
