Below are just a few of the things we believe every traveler must experience while here!
1. Explore the Angkor Wat Temple Complex in Cambodia
Nestled in the bustling city of Siem Reap is the world’s largest temple complex. Whether you want to witness the sun rise over the temple, or wander through the stone buildings, these temples will blow your mind. You can learn the incredible story behind the temple complex through the engravings that cover the stone walls with the help of a local guide! You may even see some resident monkeys! Check out our 25-day LTC (Thailand, Laos & Cambodia) trip here, and the 40-day LTC here.
2. Full Moon Party on Koh Phangan, Thailand
A classic bucket list item! The Full Moon Party happens once each month during ~surprise~ the full moon! Thousands of people from around the world boat to the island of Koh Phangan to party the night away until the wee hours of the morning! Wear your tightest and brightest clothes and prepare yourself to consume plenty buckets! Have a look at our 40-day Thailand trip here.
3. Celebrate Songkran (Thai New Year)
Every year from April 13-15 the streets of Thailand become a water fight free-for-all. If you happen to be in the country at this time, be prepared to not stay dry. This isn’t your average water fight either, everyone participates, whether you’re a local or foreigner, water is hurled in all directions at all people. So grab a waterproof phone case, a water gun or bucket, and join in on all the fun! Start planning your 10-day Songkran celebration here.
4. Walk through the Cu Chi Tunnels in Vietnam
Learning about the Vietnam war in Vietnam offers insight into a time you couldn’t receive otherwise. Exploring the Cu Chi tunnels just outside of Ho Chi Minh City will open your eyes to a world where people had to remain underground to hide from bombings and run supplies. Check out our 20-day Vietnam trip here.
5. Celebrate Loi Krathong in Chiang Mai, Thailand
Once a year, on the last full moon in the traditional Thai calendar, people from all over gather to release lanterns into the air and send candles down the river. This is a symbol of letting go of what you no longer need and opening up to receiving what you do. This festival will move you to embrace your more spiritual side. But plan accordingly, this takes place in the fall and therefore only happens on a few trips. Check out our 10-day Northern Thailand trip here.
6. Visit the Sacred Monkey Forest in Ubud, Indonesia
Hangout with monkeys for the day in the Sacred Monkey Forest in Ubud, Indonesia. More than just a tourist spot, it’s an important place for conservation and research! Grab some bananas and get up close and personal with our closest relatives in the animal kingdom! But be careful, these cheeky buggers have a tendency to steal sunglasses, water bottles, and basically anything else that’s plastic! Have a look at our 20-day Indonesia here and the 10-day Indonesia trip here.
7. Swim with Whale Sharks in the Philippines
While this only takes place during our March trips (these guys don’t stay in one place for too long and continue on their migratory route year round) it’s something not to be missed! The word shark might be daunting to some, but whale sharks are filter feeder sharks and prefer plankton over humans! So slap on a mask and flippers and hop in the ocean for an unforgettable experience! Check out our 40-day Philippines trip here.
8. Splash Around in the Kuang Si Falls in Laos
Nature has created some incredible landmarks and the Kuang Si Falls in Luang Prabang in Laos is no exception. Prepare to be stunned by the beautiful cascading waterfall that seems to go on forever!
