May Employee of the Month: Kyle Stephens

Hometown: Calgary, Alberta

Favourite Attributes: Childish laughter combined with a well maintained beard.

Languages: English, Spanish (novice)

Favourite Travel Destination: Guatemala

What countries have you traveled to? Scotland, England, France, Portugal, Peru, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Guatemala

Why Do You Travel? Being able to see different people, different cultures, different places causes you to look at yourself and challenge what you believe that you want out of life. Travel and FnEZ has given me an opportunity to step away from the daily grind back home and learn more about myself and others while seeing what this world has to offer.

Traveling gives me that little kid type of excitement and imagination that we tend to lose as we “grow up.” There is some very attractive about waking up and not knowing exactly what lays ahead.

For May, we’re thrilled to be featuring one of our rookie trip leaders who has been a beautiful force rocking out in Central America all year – Kyle Stephens! This young gentleman is relatively fresh to the Free & Easy scene, but last year he did the full Latin America circuit with us through Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama & Peru, and we just knew that we had to have his energy around our trips again. The guy is like a firecracker that blows up into rainbow-coloured kittens!

His lust for life is palpable and he’s full of so much love you can’t help but find yourself cuddling into his warm beard-filled embrace. We just had to have him back! So we offered him the job and he’s been literally jumping for joy ever since (there’s bets in the office of when he’ll finally stop). His excitement is contagious and he really just wants everyone to have as much fun as he does and that’s exactly why we love having him be such a huge part of our Central and South American adventures. These trips also offer the opportunity for home-cooked group dinners and for those of you lucky enough to get to have Kyle as your group leader, you will get to experience his superb culinary skills on top of everything else! Kyle is currently rocking around Peru, kissing up to llamas, and re-growing his glorious beard.

“Kyle was absolutely incredible. From bungee jumping, to fishing, surfing, relaxing, joking around, partying and everything else on the trip Kyle was an absolute beauty. He’s so down to earth and knowledgeable about the region and travel in general that it’s impossible to do anything besides enjoy your time around him as your leader. Great suggestions on places to visit and got to know everyone in the group to let them know certain places or activities that might be tailored to their interests. Always one to crack a joke to make everyone laugh he is also incredibly approachable and thoughtful when anything serious came up. Great guy, great leader, great company. Best 10 day vacation of my life!”         -Trip Member Jack
