Traveler of the Month: Alex Jones

Traveler Name: Alex Jones

Hometown: Fort. St John , BC

Occupation: I am currently working at The Scary Canary in Sydney as a bar attendant

Trips I’ve taken with FnEZ: 20-day Peru, two 15-day Final Fiesta’s in Nicaragua, 10-day Costa Rica & Panama, 20-day Thailand, 20-day Colombia, 20-day Philippines, and 20-day Indonesia

Places I’ve traveled to otherwise: Orlando, Maui, California, Italy, Singapore, Australia, and Seattle

Why I travel: Bunk beds. Rooms with no air conditioning. Broken elevators. Communal kitchens. Just kidding I love the sense of adventure, the variety in everyday, being surrounded by new people speaking different languages (I basically speak German now), and of course it’s a little bit fun.

My favourite travel memory with FnEZ: I was chilling in one of the two hammocks at our hostel over the water when I was handed a glass of wine and suddenly a group member started to play Tennessee whiskey on the ukulele and singing, all while the sunset in Panama.

My most hilarious travel story: My most hilarious story would have to be when I was in Colombia. We were on our way to see the huge palm trees in Cocora Valley in Salento! (I’m obsessed with Jurassic Park) so obviously I was playing the Jurassic park theme song out loud while recording a video and not watching were I was going. I managed to step in a huge hole and fall to the ground… One of my friends in the group picked up my phone and finished recording for me while I was dying laying on the ground!

Top 3 items I can’t travel without:

  1. My ukulele
  2. My 9 ft long phone charger
  3. Headphones

What I love about traveling with FnEZ: Getting to meet so many cool people! And the opportunity to spend your time either with the group, or own your own, without a strict schedule. Guess that’s why they say “it’s your trip”.

Next bucket list item I need to check off:  I don’t really have a bucket list, but the goal is really just to see as much of the world as I can.

My future travel plans: I am currently living in Australia on a working holiday VISA and have plans to head to new Zealand, and see more of Asia!
