Countries I’ve traveled to otherwise: Nicaragua, ‘Merica
Why I travel: I feel like there’s not better way to learn about and experience new cultures than completely immersing yourself in them. There’s so much more to see in this world than the community you are a part of in your day-to-day life. We’d be cheating ourselves in this life if we didn’t take every opportunity to learn from, appreciate, and experience the cultures of others.
My favourite travel memory with FnEZ: I have to pick one from each trip, because they were both so unique and amazing in totally different ways. I think my favourite trip memory from my LTC trip was our second day of the jungle trek. An afternoon of swimming and playing with elephants, a lantern ceremony, BFF bracelets (who else still has theirs on?) and a bonfire with 11 new friends? 10/10 time. A close second- Laos bowling. If you know, you know.
My favourite memory on my Costa Rica & Panama trip was the night in Puerto Viejo that we all went swimming after singing karaoke all night. There were clear starry skies and bioluminescent plankton everywhere, the best our trip leader said he’s ever seen! It was such a surreal experience.
My most embarrassing/hilarious travel story: After our jungle trek at the beginning of our LTC in Thailand, we spent a few nights at the lake house at Mae Ngat Dam and unfortunately, I got really… REALLY sick. A wicked combo of dehydration and my first Asia belly experience kicked me down hard. To top it all off, I got accidentally locked in our room that same night, making it near impossible to call for help over the music on the dock. God bless my superhero leader Jasmine for dealing with the disaster I had melted into!
Top 3 items I can’t travel without: Reusable water bottle, headphones, tiger balm (@ Tyler Allen).
What I love about traveling with FnEZ: I think travelling with FnEZ is the way to go because I met so many amazing people who I still keep in touch with to this day that I would never have met before. I believe that the world gives you what you need right when you need it, and FnEZ was the channel that brought me to a heap of lifelong friendships, and I’m so grateful for that.
My next bucket list item I need to check off: I’m eager to get my open water dive certificate on my next trip! In Panama, I was terrified to dive for my first time- I almost backed out the morning of (thanks for holding me to it Josh!) It ended up being one of my favourite excursions I’ve ever been on- can’t wait to get back in the open water!
My future travel plans: Back to SE Asia in 2020 and Australia in 2021.
