Countries I’ve traveled to otherwise: Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil, Philippines, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Japan, Germany, Poland, Greece, Italy, and Turkey
Why I travel: I travel to feel uncomfortable. I found myself waking up everyday to the same city, same job, and the same routine, all, which I’m greatful to be a part of. But, it was so easy to take for granted how fortunate we are as Canadians, to live in such a beautiful and free country. It was easy to forget that there is still 194 other countries out there that are rich in culture and cuisine, filled with breathtaking landscapes, and full of beautiful people all with their own stories. Being in a foreign country can be challenging but it allows you to grow as a person as you step out of your comfort zone into the unknown. Travelling is an addiction, one that when you are done with one fix, you start looking immediately for the next country that will leave you breathless. It’s these feelings of wonder, curiosity and challenge make me always want to continue to travel.
My favourite travel memory with FnEZ: Everything about the Jungle Trek in Thailand!
My most embarrassing/hilarious travel story: I was recently on the Feb 40-day LTC. It was our last night together as a group before everyone went their separate ways either heading off to a new adventure or back to Canada, ending their Asia adventure. So naturally it was a Khao San Road night in Bangkok. It started out as some casual beers at the Wild Orchid, which quickly escalated to a few too many buckets. The next thing I knew I was dancing around Khao San Road by myself with a sign advertising “Buckets for 150 Baht.”
Top 3 items I can’t travel without: I always travel with Lush shampoo and conditioner bars. They are solid so you can take them as carry on and they seem to last forever. I have been a huge fan of them for a few years now but after my recent move to Calgary, I discovered a small local company in Calgary called The Unwrapped Life. This way I can also support local! The other two items I always travel with is a good book and a sleep mask. The sleep mask is a game changer for any sleep-deprived traveler!
What I love about traveling with FnEZ: I love the FnEZ family vibe that easily exists. Any one of their trips takes total strangers to some of the most beautiful countries, creating friendships that truly do last.
Next bucket list item I NEED to check off: I want to go to New Zealand and experience the Queenstown Canyon Swing Chair.
My future travel plans: I plan to try and explore some more of my own back yard for the rest of the 2018-year as I recently got back from 40 days in Laos, Thailand, and Cambodia with a quick trip to Hong Kong. For the 2019-year Ireland, Scotland, and England are on the travel bucket list.
