Travel has always been an aspect of my life. My family and I immigrated to Canada back in 2007 and I think that it was this move that really kicked started my desire to explore the world. Not only does travel bring me an ineffable joy but it also brings me personal growth. When I am returning home from a trip, I leave parts of me behind, parts of me that I realize are no longer essential to who I am. I return both a more confident and humble version of myself. Traveling allows me to escape daily routines, develop new friendships, experience culture shocks, and see Earth’s beauty first hand. It’s beautiful and highly addictive!
Favourite memory with FnEZ:
Ahh I have so many! A few that really stand out though are fire spinning for the first time in Sabang, Philippines, tracking down elephants in the Chiang Mai jungle in Thailand at sunrise and getting my first tattoo whilst on the crazy island of Koh Phi Phi, Thailand. But as well as all of these, there was a certain moment on one of my trips that might trump all… I was sitting with my group on a beautiful beach, watching a killer sunset. I remember taking a moment to look at each of the faces of the new friends that I was surrounded by. They all had the same things in common–sun-kissed, healthy, and smiling from ear to ear. I’m sure that the orange rays and pomegranate pink skies had a lot to do with it, however, everyone was glowing. Seeing everyone so candidly happy made my heart melt. It was pure bliss, a magical moment for sure, and one that I will never forget.
Embarrassing travel story:
I had a case of the Asia belly while I was in Coron, Philippines, but of course I wasn’t gonna let that get in the way of enjoying our last booze cruise of the trip. I powered through it and went–participated in the team shotgun knowing full well it might come right back up–and boy did it ever. Off the top deck and onto the one below… Major party foul on my part; wasted a perfectly good Red Horse. Such an epic day though and a story to tell the grandkids someday.

Any future travel plans:
Asking me if I’ll travel again is like asking if I’d like to share a bucket. Definite yes! As much as I want to go absolutely everywhere, recently I have been fascinated with the thought of Bhutan. Did you know that instead of calculating their country’s GDP as an economic index, they measure overall “health” which makes up the country’s Gross National Happiness (GNH). How cool is that?! I would love to meet some Bhutanese locals and hear their take on this. And if they truly are as happy as they seem, I want to be there with them to soak it all up!
